It\u2019s still hot today, with temperatures above 35\u00b0C, and above all dry. Whilst the little neighbouring village is celebrating International Women\u2019s Day \u2013 an important public holiday in Madagascar \u2013 we\u2019re setting off on our next hikes in the Masoala rainforest. The national park, covering an area of around 2,100 km\u00b2, stretches across altitudes ranging from 0 to 1,224 metres. And as we always set off from the beach, we work up quite a sweat along the way. In fact, we\u2019re successful today and find our first \u2018Green Giant\u2019 Parsons\u2019 chameleon of the year. It isn\u2019t particularly large yet, though, as it\u2019s a juvenile. But where there are juveniles, you\u2019re bound to find adult chameleons somewhere nearby too. So we carry on searching \u2013 and a thunderstorm in the evening finally brings the long-awaited rain. Hopefully it will bring more reptiles!<\/p>\n
