Ce mot vient du latin et signifie \u00ab prolif\u00e9ration \u00bb ou \u00ab excroissance \u00bb. De mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, on pourrait simplement parler de \u00ab cancer de la peau \u00bb au lieu de \u00ab tumeurs cutan\u00e9es \u00bb. Les tumeurs cutan\u00e9es peuvent en principe \u00eatre class\u00e9es, selon leur comportement biologique, en tumeurs b\u00e9nignes ou malignes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Les tumeurs cutan\u00e9es apparaissent r\u00e9guli\u00e8rement chez les cam\u00e9l\u00e9ons. Des \u00e9tudes indiquent que les tumeurs cutan\u00e9es repr\u00e9sentent jusqu\u2019\u00e0 10 % de l\u2019ensemble des tumeurs chez les cam\u00e9l\u00e9ons et que les tumeurs cutan\u00e9es malignes sont l\u00e9g\u00e8rement plus fr\u00e9quentes que les tumeurs b\u00e9nignes. <sup class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote \" data-mfn=\"39\" data-mfn-post-scope=\"000000000000339f0000000000000000_10690\"><a href=\"javascript:void(0)\"  role=\"button\" aria-pressed=\"false\" aria-describedby=\"mfn-content-000000000000339f0000000000000000_10690-39\">39<\/a><\/sup><span id=\"mfn-content-000000000000339f0000000000000000_10690-39\" role=\"tooltip\" class=\"modern-footnotes-footnote__note\" tabindex=\"0\" data-mfn=\"39\">Heckers, K.O., Dietz, J., Marschang, R.E. Actes du 44e congr\u00e8s du groupe de travail sur les maladies des amphibiens et des reptiles, Gera : 95.<\/span> L&rsquo;aper\u00e7u suivant pr\u00e9sente une petite partie des tumeurs cutan\u00e9es observ\u00e9es chez les cam\u00e9l\u00e9ons.<\/p>\n<h3>Papillome<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Depuis les ann\u00e9es 2000, on observe de plus en plus souvent l&rsquo;apparition de papillomes chez les cam\u00e9l\u00e9ons \u00e9lev\u00e9s en captivit\u00e9. Ceux-ci pr\u00e9sentent un aspect tr\u00e8s caract\u00e9ristique, semblable \u00e0 de l&rsquo;\u00e9corce. Ils sont dispos\u00e9s en couches superpos\u00e9es sous la couche cutan\u00e9e la plus externe, dans le derme. Une tumeur compos\u00e9e de ces cellules pigmentaires est appel\u00e9e \u00ab chromatophorome \u00bb. Ces cellules sont en effet responsables des couleurs bleu fonc\u00e9 et noires chez le cam\u00e9l\u00e9on. Chez les mammif\u00e8res, cette tumeur est connue sous le nom de m\u00e9lanome. Les m\u00e9lanophoromes apparaissent le plus souvent (mais pas exclusivement) sur le dos et le cr\u00e2ne, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire plut\u00f4t dans la partie sup\u00e9rieure du corps. Il s&rsquo;agit de cellules cutan\u00e9es responsables des couleurs jaunes et orange de la peau du cam\u00e9l\u00e9on. Il semble relativement fr\u00e9quent chez les cam\u00e9l\u00e9ons et peut appara\u00eetre sur l&rsquo;ensemble du corps. Selon le type de tumeur, celle-ci grossit plus ou moins rapidement. Dans certains cas, la peau peut changer de couleur, par exemple devenir noire ou gris\u00e2tre. Souvent, la structure squameuse de la peau dispara\u00eet. Les r\u00e9sidus de desquamation ont alors tendance \u00e0 rester coll\u00e9s. Mais attention ! Une masse cutan\u00e9e ne correspond pas n\u00e9cessairement \u00e0 une tumeur cutan\u00e9e. Un abc\u00e8s, une n\u00e9crose (peau n\u00e9cros\u00e9e) ou un granulome fongique peuvent \u00e9galement pr\u00e9senter exactement le m\u00eame aspect ext\u00e9rieur. Il est donc tr\u00e8s important, pour \u00e9tablir un diagnostic, de consulter un v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans les reptiles.<\/p>\n<h3>Causes<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Les tumeurs cutan\u00e9es peuvent avoir des causes tr\u00e8s diverses. Chez les cam\u00e9l\u00e9ons, on ne conna\u00eet malheureusement encore l&rsquo;origine d&rsquo;aucune tumeur cutan\u00e9e. Tagung der AG Amphibien- und Reptilienkrankheiten, Gera: 87.<\/span>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On consid\u00e8re par ailleurs que l&rsquo;\u00e2ge avanc\u00e9 et l&rsquo;immunosuppression peuvent, de mani\u00e8re g\u00e9n\u00e9rale, contribuer \u00e0 la croissance tumorale.<\/p>\n<h3>Diagnostic et traitement<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Les tumeurs cutan\u00e9es doivent toujours \u00eatre examin\u00e9es d\u00e8s leur stade pr\u00e9coce par un v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9 dans les reptiles. Plus la tumeur est petite, plus il est facile de l&rsquo;enlever chirurgicalement sous anesth\u00e9sie. De plus, dans le cas des tumeurs cutan\u00e9es malignes, le risque de m\u00e9tastases vers d&rsquo;autres organes, tels que le foie ou les poumons, augmente avec le temps. Dans ce cas, une intervention chirurgicale peut s&rsquo;av\u00e9rer trop tardive. Avant une op\u00e9ration, on proc\u00e8de g\u00e9n\u00e9ralement \u00e0 une analyse sanguine afin d&rsquo;\u00e9valuer l&rsquo;aptitude \u00e0 subir une anesth\u00e9sie, ainsi qu&rsquo;\u00e0 des radiographies et\/ou une \u00e9chographie pour d\u00e9tecter d&rsquo;\u00e9ventuelles m\u00e9tastases.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Ii la tumeur cutan\u00e9e se trouve \u00e0 un endroit tr\u00e8s peu accessible ou si elle est tr\u00e8s volumineuse, le v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaire peut, le cas \u00e9ch\u00e9ant, commencer par r\u00e9aliser une biopsie, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire pr\u00e9lever un \u00e9chantillon de tissu. Un examen pathohistologique du tissu pr\u00e9lev\u00e9 en laboratoire permet alors de d\u00e9terminer la nature de la tumeur. Si la tumeur a \u00e9t\u00e9 enti\u00e8rement excis\u00e9e, l&rsquo;examen histologique permet \u00e9galement de v\u00e9rifier si l&rsquo;ensemble du tissu tumoral a pu \u00eatre retir\u00e9, c&rsquo;est-\u00e0-dire s&rsquo;il reste des cellules cutan\u00e9es saines autour de la tumeur. Cela permet d&rsquo;\u00e9tablir un pronostic tant pour la cicatrisation de la plaie que pour la survie du cam\u00e9l\u00e9on. De plus, le type pr\u00e9cis de tumeur permet de d\u00e9terminer s&rsquo;il faut s&rsquo;attendre ou non \u00e0 des m\u00e9tastases (propagation) ou \u00e0 des r\u00e9cidives (r\u00e9apparition de la tumeur). Si une intervention chirurgicale n&rsquo;est pas possible, il existe quelques cas cliniques rapportant le succ\u00e8s de la cryoth\u00e9rapie pour traiter les tumeurs cutan\u00e9es. Cette technique consiste \u00e0 traiter les cellules tumorales par le froid.
