Expedition Vlog Day 1: Antananarivo – Mandraka

Finally, we’re off again! This time, we won’t be meeting up on the domestic flight, but before – as soon as all expedition participants arrive in Antananarivo. Our expeditions usually start with a ‘buffer day’ when domestic flights are scheduled immediately after arrival. This is because flights in Madagascar aren’t always reliable, and delays are the rule rather than the exception. And that’s why we’re doing the same this time: a buffer day between flights. But this can be put to good use to visit a nature reserve just 65 km from the capital. Not a particularly long drive, beautiful chameleons and a small but lovely rainforest. A good first day and a gentle start to our Madagascar adventure.
